According to his service records, Private Martinez enlisted in the US Army on February 16, 1942. Martinez was in Company A, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment. PVT Martinez was declared missing in action in Germany.1   He was interred in Fosses Cemetery, Fosses-la Ville, Walloon municipality in Province of Namur, Belgium Sep 23, 1944. His remains were discovered in 1949 and conveyed to the San Lorenzo Pueblo (Picuris) led by the American Legion Post No. 95 of Penasco and the VFW of Taos. Private Martinez was survived by his parents Mr. Agapito Martinez and Mrs. Lucia Martinez, three brothers, Juan, Salvador and Carlos and two sisters, Tonitas and Cielia.2
