PFC Ralph Morgan was born in Crownpoint New Mexico on 14 November 1925 to Ned and Katherine B. Morgan. He enlisted 3 October 1942 and was attached to the 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division July 1943 as a Navajo Code Talker. He died at age 19 on 30 December 1943 at West New Britain, Papua New Guinea 1 as part of the New Guinea campaign, which began early in 1942 and has been described as “one of the most horrific battlegrounds of World War II.” 2 He was interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on 11 March 1949.3
